Lori Potter
Managing Director, Originations
Great Rock Capital
What led you to a career in the deal-making industry?
I was instantly attracted to lending during my first year of banking. No two deals are alike, so I am constantly learning about different businesses and industries. Over the years, I have developed a knack for finding new opportunities and am energized by the more complex situations.
How does diversity add value in the deal-making process?
Diversity brings various viewpoints and negotiating styles. Great Rock has a very diverse team, in terms of gender, ethnicity, and experience, which has absolutely contributed to our success.
The most memorable deal I worked on....
At GE Capital, we secured a $800 million financing commitment in just 4 days; the client was ready to sign with a competitor. The timing of our call was everything!
Advice for achieving success in the industry....
Know everything about your deal, plus be enthusiastic internally and with the client. Enjoy the wins, but don’t get too down with the losses. Learn from it and move on!
