What led you to a career in the deal-making industry?
I wanted a career that would be intellectually challenging over the long term, while exposing me to a variety of industries, management teams, investors and deal complexities.
How does diversity add value in the deal-making process?
Monroe has a fundamental belief that cognitive diversity drives better investment decisions. We invest across a broad spectrum of industries and the diverse backgrounds of our investment committee drives more-informed decisions.
The most memorable deal I worked on....
Hard to isolate one deal over 18+ years, but I would say the more complex deals have been the most interesting, and often yielded the best risk adjusted return.
Advice for achieving success in the industry....
I encourage anyone starting out to focus on networking and building relationships of substance. The value of a deep, expansive network will almost certainly expand your opportunities.
