Waël Rostom

Waël, a highly accomplished lawyer, has advised on numerous high-profile Canadian, US and European restructuring proceedings. He advises on complex corporate reorganizations as well as workouts, distressed M&A transactions, receiverships, and bankruptcies. Waël has acted for publicly traded companies, directors and officers, shareholders, banks, financial institutions, hedge funds, private equity funds, asset-based lenders, customers, and suppliers in domestic and cross-border proceedings.


Edward O. Sassower

Edward focuses on representing debtors, creditors and distressed or special situation investors in bankruptcy cases, out-of-court restructurings and acquisitions. He is also an Adjunct Full Professor of Finance at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania where he teaches the “Corporate Restructuring” course every Fall. Over the years, he has advised on several of Turnaround Atlas Awards winning transactions.


Allen Soong

Allen has led clients through transitions across a variety of industries by leveraging his broad consulting experience across strategy, financial advisory, and operational restructuring. He brings his vision, skills, and energy to solve complex challenges in collaborative partnership with clients. Allen leads thoughtfully from the front, helping his clients confidently navigate the restructuring process, both in and out of court. Allen launched his career with McKinsey and held leadership and management roles with Deloitte and CRG Partners.


Fredric Sosnick

Fred is also a Global Operations Partner, as well as a member of the firm’s Executive Group. He focuses on advising clients in connection with large and complex domestic and international out-of-court restructurings and U.S. Chapter 11 cases. Fred represents debtors, official creditors’ committees, lender groups, DIP lenders, creditors, and acquirers of assets. His clients include Bank of America, Barclays, Citigroup and Deutsche Bank, among others.


Boris J. Steffen

A financial advisor and expert witness to holders of interests and claims in restructurings involving complex accounting, finance, valuation and solvency issues, Boris has advised in over $100 billion of mergers, acquisitions, and restructurings. His practice has included Special Litigation Committee service, acting as the independent accounting expert in post-closing working capital disputes, evaluating asset acquisitions and testifying as an expert with respect to the interpretation of accounting principles, allocation of costs, specificity of merger synergies, actual and constructive fraudulent transfers, and fair value, including before the Delaware Court of Chancery.

What factor has most led to your success in the restructuring industry... The factor which has most led to my success in the restructuring industry is my ability to originate and implement ideas and strategies that contribute to the success of my clients.

Joe Stone

Joe has over 20 years of experience advising corporate, creditor and private equity clients involved in complex capital structure challenges, and has executed a wide range of restructurings, M&A and capital transactions. He joined Oppenheimer & Co in 2021.


Jack Surdoval

Jack specializes in financial restructuring advisory and crisis management services in the troubled company environment and provides value-added representation to all parties-in-interest. His expertise includes: financial and operational restructuring strategies; business plans and related financial projections; asset valuations; structuring and raising of debtor-in-possession (DIP) and other financing; supporting companies through Chapter 11 proceedings. Before joining BRG, Jack was an executive director at Capstone Advisory Group and was a managing director with the Policano & Manzo legacy practice of FTI Consulting.

Jack won the prestigious Turnaround Atlas Award earlier this year for representing Chapter 11 restructuring of Brazos Electric Power Cooperative, Inc.


Joseph Swanson

Joe has more than three decades of investment banking experience, including corporate restructurings, M&A, and the issuance of both public and private debt and equity securities. Most recently, he has provided restructuring advice to a major party in interest on a broad range of situations, including Nordic Aviation Capital, Virgin Atlantic, Malaysia Airlines, Noble Group, FESCO (Far Eastern Shipping Co), among others. Before joining Houlihan Lokey, Joe worked for Bear Stearns & Co., where he managed various capital raising and financial advisory transactions as part of the firm’s generalist corporate finance group.


Leon Szlezinger

Christian Tempke

Christian specializes in advising public and private companies and creditor groups in complex financial restructurings, distressed sale processes and in raising capital for troubled businesses. While at Lazard, he has participated in a wide variety of in-court and out-of-court restructuring, recapitalization, financing and sale transactions across a broad range of industries in the U.S., Canada, Asia, Europe and South America. He joined Lazard in 2007.
