Shanti Mulpuru Katona

Shanti works with debtors, creditors, purchasers and sellers in all capacities and stages within complex bankruptcy and restructuring transactions. She also has experience representing financial institutions and other creditors in the enforcement and workout of commercial and real estate loans. Her litigation experience includes investigating and litigating insider causes of action, fraudulent transfers and preferences before bankruptcy courts nationwide, to litigating complex cases in Delaware’s state and federal courts. Shanti is an appointed board member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, where she also serves as the Mid-Atlantic Bankruptcy Workshop Program Co-Chair.

What factor has most led to your success in the restructuring industry... My curiosity. The nature of restructuring requires me to be reactive and agile since the issues are constantly changing. By remaining curious, I am continuously learning new strategies and approaches to address ever-changing client concerns.

What do you most enjoy about your career... Getting to work with talented and collaborative colleagues, whose support from the beginning, enabled me to observe and absorb complex yet practical strategies and solutions to guide clients.


Brent King

Brent has over 25 years' experience as a corporate insolvency leader and has served as CEO, CRO, Judicial Receiver, Chapter 11 Trustee, Interim CFO, or senior advisor to both public and private corporations in a wide range of industries. As a fourth-generation farmer, he brings unique perspective to clients involved in the agricultural industry, including pork processing; beef and dairy production; row crop and grain production; vegetable production and distribution; soybean crushing; biodiesel and ethanol production; equipment manufacturing; trucking logistics; among others. He holds the CTP designation and is a member of TMA, ABI, and a Sate Director of the Commercial Receiver Association.

What factor has most led to your success in the restructuring industry... My diverse skill set and pragmatic approach to business.

What do you most enjoy about your career... I get to learn about unique problems and creatively solve them.


Robert A. Klyman

Robert represents companies, lenders, ad hoc groups of secured and unsecured creditors, acquirers and boards of directors in all phases of restructurings and workouts. His experience includes representing lenders and bondholders in complex workouts; advising debtors in connection with traditional, prepackaged and ‘pre-negotiated’ bankruptcies; counseling strategic and financial players who acquire debt or provide financing as a path to take control of companies in bankruptcy; and structuring and implementing numerous asset sales through Section 363 of the Bankruptcy Code. Robert was a partner at the firm of Latham & Watkins for more than 17 years.


Michael Kramer

Michael has over 30 years of experience as a trusted advisor to companies, creditors groups, government institutions, and other parties of interest in complex corporate finance transactions, including financial restructurings, court supervised insolvency proceedings, mergers and acquisitions, financings, and in connection with the resolution from a financial perspective of off-balance sheet liabilities including mass tort and products liability, environmental contamination and remediation, and intellectual property litigation. Prior to founding Ducera Partners, he was a Partner and held various leadership roles at Perella Weinberg Partners, Greenhill & Co., and Houlihan Lokey.


David B. Kurzweil

David has over 35 years of experience providing innovative strategies to clients across a wide range of industries, including energy, retail, health care, technology, manufacturing, media, communications, real estate, transportation, professional corporations, and more. With comprehensive experience in distressed financial situations, both in and out of bankruptcy court, David represents a wide variety of clients including financial institutions, private equity firms, debtors, creditors’ committees, boards of directors and trustees. David also represents numerous clients in the origination of financings, including asset-based loans and debtor-in-possession financing transactions. David is very active in his community and numerous philanthropic organizations.

Most recently, he worked on Aztec/Shaffer LLC restructuring and sale to a consortium of bidders led by Arena Events Groups, winner of the “Distressed M&A Deal” award.

What factor has most led to your success in the restructuring industry... It is crucial to use a collaborative approach when assembling creative strategies. A strong sense of teamwork, along with an attentive ear, have enhanced my career and long-term relationships. To understand the needs of colleagues and clients, it is best to listen to them and understand their definition of success.

What do you most enjoy about your career... It is an honor to work alongside my colleagues and have a collaborative approach to delivering high quality legal services. I enjoy a wide variety of relationships with individuals from different backgrounds, experiences, and thought patterns. Ultimately, my relationships serve as a source of inspiration, education, and support.


Jonathan Leitch

Jonathan specialises in restructuring and special situations with wide-ranging experience in Asia-Pacific acting for all types of stakeholders in the restructuring of financially challenged companies. For more than 20 years, he has acted for a range of financial institutions, credit investors, insolvency office holders, turnaround specialists, hedge funds, private equity firms and corporations, advising them on all aspects of financial restructuring, debt rescheduling, rescue finance and loan-to-own investment strategies. He has a reputation as being “trusted adviser” and for bringing creative and pragmatic solutions to complex situations.

What factor has most led to your success in the restructuring industry... Never giving up, persistence, common sense and a mentality of trying to find consensual solutions.

What do you most enjoy about your career... Each situation is unique so there is a great deal of variety. I enjoy most when working with other colleagues and professionals in cross-border situations where solution requires the skills and input of many people to achieve the right outcome.


Margot MacInnis

Margot leads the insolvency and corporate recovery assignments in the Cayman Islands and Offshore. She is responsible for practice development and leading the team across global engagements. Margot has over 25 years of experience of asset tracing and recovery, is a forensic accountant, as well as a certified fraud examiner and anti-money laundering specialist.


Gaurav Malhotra

Gaurav is part of the EY Global Restructuring team, bringing strategic alternatives and options to stressed and distressed clients around the world. With nearly 20 years of restructuring experience, he works with boards of directors, executive management teams and other stakeholders to help implement sustainable financial and operational turnaround plans with a focus on value maximization. Gaurav has extensive experience in leading complex restructurings, distressed M&As and capital sourcing deals and bringing disparate parties together in multi-party negotiations, including negotiating restructuring plans, valuation analyses and effective turnaround strategies with multiple creditor groups.

Most recently, Gaurav and the firm advised in the restructuring proceedings for the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, a Turnaround Atlas Awards winning transaction earlier this year.


Craig Martin

Craig has spent his legal career working on complex distressed situations. He has represented numerous parties in a variety of cases, including equity committees, committees of unsecured creditors, bank groups, indenture trustees and debtors. He has also advised purchasers of assets in bankruptcy auctions and court-approved sales and frequently provides bankruptcy-specific advice in complex mergers and acquisition situations involving distressed entities. While Craig has appeared in bankruptcy courts all across the US, his work frequently focuses on cross-border situations. He has acted as counsel in cases in Canada, Germany, Ireland, Hong Kong, Spain, Bermuda, the Dominican Republic, Africa, the UK and Argentina.

Craig advised on a number of award-winning transactions, including China-based off-shore restructuring of Luckin Coffee at the Turnaround Atlas Awards earlier this year.


Drew McManigle

Drew founded – MACCO Restructuring Group, an award-winning business restructuring and financial advisory firm. For over 30 years, in both leadership and fiduciary roles, his solutions-driven style has led to successful outcomes in a variety of complex and distressed situations. He is one of 9 professionals chosen to serve as a Sub-Chapter V, Small Business Chapter 11 trustees in the Southern District of Texas, Houston Division. Drew is a graduate of the University of Houston and has been quoted in multiple national publications, appeared on television and is a regular conference panelist and public speaker.
