What led you to a career in the deal-making industry?
I was a law clerk to the Honorable Christopher M. Klein and the Ninth Circuit Bankruptcy Appellate Panel which provided understanding of how Courts functioned and effective advocacy. I worked for nationally recognized bankruptcy boutiques, acquiring complex chapter 11 case experience. This positioned me to seamlessly run larger complex cases.
Diversity add value in the deal-making process...
As a Latina with a bicultural background, diversity and inclusion are at my core. I’ve sought to help young women and diverse lawyers navigate similar terrain as I encountered in my career. As a mentor, I develop junior diverse lawyers.
Most memorable deal I worked on...
I recently led the team that obtained victory for Borrego Community Health Foundation, a federally qualified nonprofit health care center that operated clinics providing medical service to 100,000 low-income patients.
Advice for achieving success...
Young lawyers experience learning curves and challenges, none of which are the end of the world but rather part of the journey towards becoming successful lawyers. Don’t take things personally but instead listen and then try to find strategic solutions.
Most enjoy about my career...
Clients call me when there is a crisis – the most rewarding part of my career is navigating them through that crisis and creating a solution for them.
