What led you to a career in the deal-making industry?
I am driven by understanding how companies operate, evolve, and ultimately fail or succeed as well as interested in what makes a good management team and good leadership. I have a passion for aiding companies during challenging periods and times of growth and I enjoy its collaborative, highly strategic nature.
Memorable deal I worked on... why?
Le Pain Quotidien – we had an unprecedented macroeconomic situation and an insolvent European parent company. We successfully found a buyer and saved them from ceasing operations in the U.S.
Most enjoy about my career...
Helping companies through incredibly challenging circumstances and making a significant impact is very rewarding. I also enjoy the opportunity to meet interesting people and guide the future of the business.
Profile:
Alex is responsible for creating valuation models, performing financial analyses in support of capital structure strategy, conducting market and buyer research, and preparing transaction progress reports. He also manages and mentors our analyst team. He works closely with SSG’s senior bankers, clients and buyers, advising on a wide range of special situations transactions including mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, restructurings, recapitalizations, private placements and special situation engagements of both senior and subordinated debt and equity.
Education: American University, Kogod School of Business, B.S. in Business Administration, International Finance Certification.
