What led you to a career in the deal-making industry?
I spent 10 years as an M&A advisor for both the buy-side and sell-side. During that time, I saw all the shortcomings and inefficiencies of the M&A process with no great tools to use as a solution. That prompted me to start building my own tool, DealRoom.
Tell us about your experience and what was different during the Covid-19?
During lockdown we had a slowdown of client acquisitions and had to work with some of our clients who were really affected by COVID-19 to help them adjust. Many of their processes had to be reconfigured for a digital first approach. Coming out of it we were able to continue our growth as companies are ramping up to do more M&A. We’ve been lucky to come out of it in a pretty positive way.
Recent most memorable deal I worked on....
Emerson and AspenTech deal for 11B, a large complex deal, where two additional business lines will be carved out of the parent company and integrated into the subsidiary.
Kison is the Founder and CEO of DealRoom, a project management software for complex financial transactions.
