Noam Ankri

Noam heads the distressed companies and special situations practice of the Paris office. He specializes in complex cross-border matters, with dual expertise in M&A (LBO, corporate M&A) and restructuring (distress M&A, debt restructurings, insolvency proceedings). Having worked in New York, London and Paris, his clients, which include large corporations, private equity funds and numerous hedge funds, appreciate his unique eye for the multi-cultural approach required in a cross-border deal.


Tomás M. Araya

Tomás specializes in financial restructuring operations, having represented debtors and creditors, including domestic and foreign banks, in various debt restructuring processes, including the restructuring of several local banks. He has also actively participated in complex litigation, some of them involving cross-border insolvency claims. In recent years, he has actively participated in local and international issues of debt securities and shares. He has extensive experience in financing and securitization of banks, as well as debt restructuring. In addition, he has led our teams in several cases of corporate purchases and mergers and acquisitions in industries such as renewable energy, oil and gas, food and retail, among others.


Guilherme Fontes Bechara

Guilherme specialized in Civil Litigation, Arbitration and Restructuring, acting more specifically in judicial reorganization and bankruptcy proceedings. Among his main clients are investment funds, financial institutions companies from various sectors and national and international financial institutions, focusing on the recovery of credits, judicially or extrajudicially, investments in credits or investment in companies in crisis.


Martin J. Bienenstock

Marty provides clients with multidisciplinary solutions that draw on his combined experience in restructuring, corporate governance, reorganization, litigation, Dodd-Frank and Sarbanes-Oxley. Martin’s restructuring practice focuses on restructuring troubled situations including Puerto Rico to benefit all their stakeholders including their people, investors and creditors. His governance practice is targeted at keeping healthy companies healthy and growing, and saving distressed companies, while protecting directors and officers with cutting edge best practices.

Marty recently received the prestigious “Lifetime Restructuring Leadership” accolade at the 2022 Turnaround Atlas Awards.


Jeff Bjork

Jeff is Managing Partner of Latham’s Los Angeles offices and former Global Vice Chair of the firm’s Restructuring and Special Situations Practice. He represents public and private companies, creditors, and investors in all aspects of restructuring. With 25 years in practice, Jeff represents debtors, creditors, sponsors, boards of directors, and investors in all aspects of restructuring distressed companies. He regularly advises companies on successful strategies to address mass tort and legacy liabilities, including asbestos, environmental, and product related liabilities, and has represented clients in numerous mass tort bankruptcies.


Jorge Bofill

Jorge is focused on the resolution of complex and cross border business disputes, before local and foreign courts, governmental authorities and arbitral tribunals; covering almost all industries and markets, including retail, food and drink producers, education, energy, natural resources and mining, construction, public works, banking and securities. Jorge has represented clients before Chilean and foreign courts including World Bank’s International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes in Washington D.C. and the International Chamber of Commerce. His experience includes advising on out-of-court dispute resolution and conducting internal corporate investigations at the behest of the owners or boards of corporations. Most recently Jorge and the firm won the “Cross-Border Turnaround of the Year” award for their role in the LATAM Airlines Chapter 11 Reorganization.


Jason L. Boland

Jason has a diverse and nationwide practice centering on business bankruptcy matters and complex commercial disputes. Since joining the Firm in 2003, Jason has represented a broad range of clients, including debtors, committees, lenders, litigation trustees, indenture trustees, and secured and unsecured creditors, in both transactional and litigation-related engagements, and he has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in complex commercial litigation matters pending in federal courts across the country. Most recently, he won the prestigious Turnaround Atlas Award for representing Chapter 11 restructuring of Brazos Electric Power Cooperative, Inc.


Allan S. Brilliant

Allan represents bank groups, unsecured creditors’ and bondholder committees, acquirers, and debtors in large-scale restructurings and reorganizations and in non-judicial workouts throughout the United States. He also has significant experience advising bondholders on cross-border restructurings and reorganizations around the world, with an especially strong track record in Latin America. Allan He also has significant experience in bankruptcy litigation, particularly in fraudulent transfer and preference litigation, contested confirmation hearings, and bankruptcy appeals.


Katrina Buckley

Katrina acts for financial institutions, funds, corporates, and insolvency practitioners. She has advised on some of the most significant insolvencies and restructurings in the market over the last twenty years. Recent cases include ongoing advice to the administrators of Greensill Capital UK in relation to one of the most high profile insolvencies in 2021, advising the RCF lenders to soft commodity trader, E D & F Man, in relation to its latest restructuring implemented using cross-class cram down under a UK restructuring plan, advising one of the energy companies challenging the acquisition, pursuant to an energy transfer scheme, of Bulb Energy by Octopus.


Jifree Cader

Jifree has a wealth of experience in advising clients on all facets of European insolvencies and restructurings. He works closely with private equity firms, hedge funds, investment banks and other distressed debt and par investors, providing advice on their investment portfolios. He has also advised insolvency practitioners. He joined Sidley in 2016 from another international law firm.
