Paul represents debtors, creditors and investors in a broad range of restructuring matters, including chapter 11 cases, cross-border insolvency matters, out-of-court restructurings and bankruptcy-related acquisitions. He has represented a diverse range of clients spanning numerous industries in some of the most complex and contentious restructuring matters of the last twenty-five years.

Jim practice focuses on restructuring, bankruptcy and litigation advice to a wide spectrum of corporate clients, including creditors, debtors and investors, as well as government actors for over three decades.


MATTHEW R. BROOKS

Matt represents companies in connection with restructurings and liability management opportunities, developing and implementing compliance programs, and defending insolvency-related litigation. He advises private equity and other strategic buyers through due diligence to closing, including acquisitions in the distressed space. Matt also helps lenders evaluate and enforce their remedies.


JAMES S. CARR

Jim is the driving force behind one of the nation’s most respected, experienced, and robust creditor-side and retail bankruptcy practices. It is a practice Jim built from the ground up shortly after starting his career at Kelley Drye more than three decades ago. During that time, Jim has been involved in all aspects of the bankruptcy process and has played leading roles on behalf of creditor constituents in countless high-profile billion-dollar cases.


MATTHERW D. CAVENAUGH

Matthew focuses on complex business bankruptcy litigation. A seasoned actor and former judicial law clerk, Matt understands the importance of communicating complex legal arguments with clarity and conviction – both in and out of court. From the moment a client steps in the door until closing argument, Matt uses his distinctive talents for storytelling, humor, and creativity to persuasively and fiercely advocate for his clients.


LOUIS S. CHIAPETTA

Louis is considered an industry leader with respect to representing both debtor and creditor clients in complex US and non-US reorganizations in both in and out-of-court restructurings throughout a wide variety of industries. In addition to his debtor and creditor representations, Louis has extensive experience advising boards of directors and senior officers regarding fiduciary duties and contingency planning strategies in both in and out-of-court restructuring situations, which have resulted in billions of dollars successfully restructured and thousands of careers preserved.

What has contributed to your success... Passion. I believe that “how you do anything is how you do everything.” I am motivated by taking whatever I find—be that a person, place, or an idea—and leaving it better than when I found it. When a client is distressed, it is my job to make that client better—whether through an out-of-court or in-court process.

Most enjoy about his career... I love working with my clients to achieve the best solution possible, as a result I have restructured billions of dollars of debt out-of-court for clients around the globe—saving companies and careers.
