Betsy focuses on the origination, evaluation, and structuring of new loan opportunities with private equity sponsors. Prior to joining TPG Twin Brook in 2015, Betsy was at Ares Management LLC, where she underwrote senior debt and unitranche credit facilities supporting private equity-backed transactions primarily in the middle market space across a variety of industries. Previously, Betsy was with Madison Capital Funding LLC, where she underwrote and managed senior credit facilities supporting middle-market private equity transactions, managing all aspects of the underwriting process including loan structuring, due diligence, and financial modeling, as well as legal documentation and negotiation.
Education: B.S. in Finance from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.

What led you to a career in the deal-making industry?
Early in my career, I developed a network of impactful mentors and built a foundation in my underwriting skill set which allowed for a smooth transition into the sales function of our business. As an originator, I review dozens of investment opportunities and determine which deals to lean into.

Diversity cultivates additional layers of discussion and analysis around opportunities within a business or broader industry by approaching an investment from a different angle. As a woman, I contribute unique experiences to the team resulting in more comprehensive conclusions.
Most memorable deal I worked on...
HR services for daycare facilities. As a working mom, ensuring children are safe while at work is a priority. These providers create a lasting impact on children while giving parents peace of mind.
Advice for achieving success...
Find your voice. Early in my career, I was often hesitant to speak up out of fear that my ideas would be ignored. At Twin Brook, we’ve developed a culture built on mutual respect regardless of age, seniority, gender, etc.
