Lynn is regarded as a leading lawyer on international cross-border insolvencies, with more than 35 years of experience in workouts, reorganizations and liquidations on behalf of debtors, creditors, liquidators and trustees. Clients call him a “hardworking star individual” and describe him as “a very safe pair of hands.” The Legal 500 noted that he “combines keen intelligence and high technical knowledge with warm client-handling skills.” Lynn primarily advises clients on Chapter 11 reorganizations, Chapter 15, and other ancillary proceedings, structured financings, distressed trades and acquisitions. Most recently, Lynn represented two Turnaround Atlas Awards winning transactions – the eight-year saga of China Fishery Group, and Alto Maipo Chapter 11 restructurings.
What factor has most led to your success in the restructuring industry… I have a passion for what I do. The cross-border restructuring practice area has interested me since my early years of practicing law, and I have been fortunate to have worked on very high profile cases during my career. Most recently, I represented a German Foreign Representative who was a significant creditor in the Chapter 11 cases of China Fishery Group Limited (Cayman), et al., a restructuring which was recently highlighted by the 15th Turnaround Atlas Awards for Cross-Border Turnaround of the Year. Past examples include counseling the Italian Extraordinary Administrator of Parmalat S.p.A., a multinational dairy and food corporation, and its affiliates, in restructuring some of the company’s subsidiaries in the United States and Latin America. I also advised the foreign representative of Gruppo Covarra S.A. de C.V., in the first successful ancillary proceeding initiated by a “sindico” (a Mexican liquidator) in the United States since the enactment of Mexico’s insolvency law, the Ley de Concurso Mercantiles. These examples are just some of the cases that have played a crucial role in igniting my passion for cross-border restructuring.
What do you most enjoy about your career… I enjoy meeting people in my practice area and exchanging innovative ideas to tackle the complex challenges faced by cross-border insolvency professionals in today’s ever-evolving landscape.
