What led you to a career in the deal-making industry?
I was hooked as a bankruptcy lawyer in my first assignment representing a distressed theme park. The combination of litigation and transactional components, coupled with the wide variety of issues spanning finance, real estate, employment, etc. never makes for a dull moment and always keeps the job interesting and challenging.
Tell us about your experience and what was different during the Covid-19?
The Furniture Factory Outlet acquisition spanned 2 major holidays during the pandemic and was an accelerated bankruptcy acquisition of less than 2 months. It required a team of 12 lawyers from all practices to dig deep despite the personal challenges of remote work and family life.
Recent most memorable deal I worked on....
Representing the owner of the Titanic artifacts in its bankruptcy sale to private equity investors. Unique asset makeup of artifacts that was difficult to value and required admiralty court approval.
